The center will be located about ten kilometers from the center of Da Lat
The People’s Committee of Lam Dong has issued a decision to build a flower trading center, the first of its kind in the Central Highlands province.
Located about ten kilometers from the heart of Da Lat, the province’s capital city, the center will be built at the end of Mimosa Pass, which is the middle between Da Lat and Duc Trong District.
The facility is also close to Don Duong District, a major agricultural area specializing in veggies and flower cultivation of Lam Dong.
According to previous proposals, the project is estimated to cover a floor area of about 1.3 hectares and include many auxiliary works such as warehouses and yards.
Once put into operation, flowers from Da Lat and the surrounding areas are gathered at the center before being processed and shipped by a transport regulation system.
The center will compile orders from buyers and information from manufacturers to promote transactions between the two sides thanks to the application of a technology system.
This operation is based on the wholesale model of Ota, Japan’s largest flower and vegetables auction market.
A similar flower trading center will also be established in Ho Chi Minh City, where flowers will be stored and distributed to retail markets or directly to flower shops.
Payments for the completed orders and information of new orders will be transferred to the center in Da Lat before reaching producers.
The construction of the flower trading center in Lam Dong is expected to help farmers solve pricing problems and save distribution costs, thereby increasing profits for both farmers and participants in this supply and distribution chain.
The project is also meant to expedite the connection between supply and demand sources to avoid overproduction or short supply.
It is expected that the center will be put into operation by 2025.
The center is part of agricultural infrastructure projects invested through a loan package worth more than VND11 trillion (US$476.5 million) from Japan and domestic counterparts.
The funding is expected to increase agriculture area from 700 hectares to more than 1,000 hectares, benefit more than 10,000 farming households, and double the total area of vegetables and flowers in Lam Dong.
