He fired his gun in the live stream to provoke members of another gang to anger
A man from Ho Chi Minh City has been investigated for firing his gun while live-streaming on Facebook.
Police in District 8 on Thursday initiated legal proceedings against Nguyen Anh Ty, 23, who resides in Binh Chanh District, for disrupting public order.
Ty and other relevant individuals have been requested to come to the police station to facilitate the investigation.
Preliminary information showed that Ty had a pre-existing conflict with Nguyen Pham Minh Cuong, a local gangster who is now serving his jail term.
Ty recently provoked Cuong’s gang to anger on social media, which infuriated Nguyen Thanh Long, one of the gang members.
Ty and Long had a heated argument via text messages, before the two arranged a meeting at a local bridge to settle the conflict.
Early on Monday morning, Ty and his gang arrived at the location, but Long did not show up.
Ty thus decided to scout several streets in District 8 and Binh Chanh District on a motorbike to look for his opponent.
The man also live-streamed on Facebook, swearing and firing his gun to provoke Long.
In accordance with the law, disrupting public order is punishable by a fine worth up to VND50 million (US$2,200), a non-custodial sentence of up to two years, or up to seven years in prison.
