The flights will connect Moscow with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Khanh Hoa Province’s Nha Trang City
Vietnam’s no-frills airline Vietjet Air will launch direct flights to the Russian capital city of Moscow from three Vietnamese cities from next July, marking its first-ever direct routes to Europe.
The privately-owned carrier announced the direct routes at a ceremony held in Moscow on Thursday in the presence of Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is on an official visit to Russia at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Accordingly, the flights will connect Moscow with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Nha Trang City, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft with Skyboss Premier services.
The routes between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and Moscow will start on July 3 with two flights per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The flight time will be 10 hours for the Hanoi – Moscow route and 12 hours for Ho Chi Minh City – Moscow flights, including a transit in Hanoi.
Flights departing from Cam Ranh Airport to connect Nha Trang with Moscow are set to be conducted every Monday and Friday from July 10, 2022, with a flying time of 10 hours.
All flights from the three localities will land at Sheremetyevo International Airport in the Russian capital.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said Vietjet stands ready for international air routes and direct flights to Russia will continue proving the firm’s commitment to offering top quality aviation products and services.

“Vietjet has invested in a modern fleet and will expand its intercontinental flight network in the coming time,” he said.
The ambassador emphasized that these new air routes will contribute to promoting the relations between Vietnam and Russia in tourism, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchange.
After weathering the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit Vietnam since early 2020, Vietjet, with its flight network in Vietnam and across the Asia-Pacific region, has resumed domestic flight services and operated many international flights from and to the Southeast Asian nation, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Vietnam and Russia have great potential for tourism cooperation, with 660,000 Russian tourists visiting Vietnam in 2019, making Russia the largest European tourist market of the Asian country, according to national radio station Voice of Vietnam.
