Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities on Monday morning imposed a blockade on a neighborhood in District 12 after a local resident had been confirmed as a new infection case the same day.

Local authorities have blocked part of an alley near the house of patient No. 2,004, on TL04 Street in District 12’s Thanh Loc Ward.

Foods and drinks have been distributed to local households at door.

Earlier, the city on late Sunday night also imposed an emergency lockdown on the Ma Lang neighborhood with 1,900 residents in District 1’s Nguyen Cu Trinh Ward to take samples for COVID-19 tests and sterilize the area, as a local resident had been suspected and later confirmed as one of the four new infection cases in the city.

The patient has been identified to not have contact with many people, however, the large number of residents plus small paths in the area put the neighborhood at a high risk of infection.

The two patients were among the four new cases of locally-transmitted COVID-19 announced early Monday morning, with all being staff members at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

They are identified to be residents at Tan Binh District’s Ward 15, District 12’s Trung My Tay and Thanh Loc wards, and District 1’s Nguyen Cu Trinh Ward.

In an effort to curb the spread of the pandemic, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control asked Tan Binh District’s medical center to take samples for COVID-19 tests on 300 people on Sunday night.
