The project is slated for completion in 2022
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has reported to the municipal People’s Council on adjustments to a project building the first-ever terminal for public buses in Cu Chi District at a cost of VND79 billion (US$3.38 million).
The new bus terminal project includes leveling the ground surface of 11,400 square meters, the construction of an 8,400-square-meter parking lot for city buses, internal walkways for passengers, functional buildings and management offices, a parking lot for two-wheeled vehicles, and a guardhouse.
The project is slated for completion in 2022.
There has been no proper station for public buses in Cu Chi, with all buses of ten public bus routes to and from the outlying district currently sharing the same terminal with private commercial coaches located on National Highway 22.
Moreover, the current bus terminal was already degraded, with its facilities having fallen behind demand.
