The new facilities are located in District 11 and District 12
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on Tuesday issued a decision to establish two new concentrated COVID-19 quarantine facilities.
The new facilities are located at the military school of the 7th Military Region in District 12 and the dormitory of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in District 11.
Staff members at these centers are tasked with receiving, examining, screening, monitoring, and providing consultation for quarantined individuals.
The municipal Department of Health is responsible for reviewing and approving the organization and operation of the two venues in accordance with regulations.
The Department of Finance was requested to balance the city budget to cover all expenses in the establishment and operation of the facilities.
The city’s administration has also decided to launch paid quarantine service at several hotels, namely Happy Life in District 7 and Golden View and TTC Deluxe Airport in Tan Binh District.
These paid quarantine facilities will be under the direct guidance, management, and administration of the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
During a meeting last Friday, authorities in many districts reported on the lack of concentrated quarantine areas due to a rapid increase in the number of people who came into close contact with COVID-19 patients.
Vice-chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc requested local government and health authorities to have plans for the establishment of new quarantine centers.
They must also prevent cross-infection within these quarantine venues, Duc added.
Vietnam has recorded 9,505 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday afternoon, with 3,549 recoveries and 55 deaths, according to the health ministry.
The country has documented 6,328 local infections in 39 out of 63 provinces and cities since the fourth transmission wave began on April 27.
Ho Chi Minh City has detected 481 cases in this bout.
