The recommended prices range from VND2.5-5.7 million (US$108-246) per night
Ho Chi Minh City is now offering 23 lodging facilities with a total of more than 1,700 rooms for paid quarantine, including two places with 126 rooms for flight crews.
The Department of Tourism has just announced a list of 15 hotels qualified for paid quarantine service, while 20 others are finishing amenities and protocols to make their accommodations compliant with regulations.
According to the department, these 15 hotels contribute a total of 982 rooms to serve people required to quarantine when arriving in the city.
Hotels are requested to list all service prices, including meals, laundry, and transport, said Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, director of the Department of Tourism.
The recommended prices for three- to five-star hotels range from VND2.5-5.7 million (US$108-246) per night for a room, inclusive of taxes, surcharges, and three meals per day.
Airport pick-up service is not included in this package.
Given the rates, a 14-day quarantine package may cost around VND19-60 million ($819-2,588) depending on the facilities and services chosen.
Some hotels will require a deposit from VND2-3 million in case of disposal of guests’ personal items as requested by the Department of Health.
According to a representative of a hotel approved as a quarantine facility, the package is rather costly for many guests.
Earlier, hotels mostly welcomed experts and investors, whose expenses were covered by their employers and business partners.
However, more overseas Vietnamese, migrant workers, and students will return to Vietnam when the nation reopens international commercial flights. Many of them may not be able to afford the high quarantine prices.
“Our current prices have been lowered as required by local government to support [the guests],” the hotel representative said.
“However, we are still waiting for the quarantine time to be shortened to six days, which will make the hotel quarantine package much more affordable.”
