Vietnam recorded 527 domestic cases on Friday
Ho Chi Minh City documented 419 domestic infections on Friday, most detectecd in isolated areas.
Three hundred and thirty-five of the new cases were infected patients’ contacts already put in quarantine centers or locked-down places, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control said in a report.
The remaining 84 patients were detected via mass screening at medical facilities and in the community.
Vietnam logged 527 locally-infected patients, including 428 in isolated areas, and 148 recoveries the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.
The country has reported 16,285 domestic infections and 1,836 imported cases, including 7,395 recoveries and 84 deaths, from the beginning of the pandemic last year.
Since a new outbreak started in Vietnam on April 27, the nation has registered 14,716 local cases in 52 out of its 63 provinces and cities.
Bac Giang is on top of the table with 5,710 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 4,723 and Bac Ninh Province with 1,610.
By comparison, Vietnam confirmed 106 community cases in the first wave from January 23 to April 16, 2020, 554 in the second from July 25 to December 1, 2020, and 910 in the third from January 28 to March 25, 2021.
A total of 3,813,767 shots have been administered across the country since inoculation was rolled out on March 8.
More than 204,000 people have finished their two-shot regimen.
