Many supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City have been operating online sale and delivery service
Many supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City have been operating online sale and delivery service so that customers can shop for groceries without having to leave their homes, especially during the ongoing extensive social distancing drive.
Residents in the city began following social distancing regulations under the prime minister’s Directive No. 16 for 15 days from Friday.
The directive requires everyone to stay home unless they have an appropriate reason to go outside.
While people are still allowed to leave their houses to buy food and necessities, online shopping remains a safer option.
It also enables residents in locked down areas to purchase essential items during the isolation period.
According to a representative of Bach Hoa Xanh supermarket chain, customers can contact the nearest store via phone numbers provided on the website to shop online.
They can choose a time to pick up the products at the stores or have them delivered to their homes.
The chain also doubles the inventory to ensure sufficient supplies during the social distancing period.
Vissan food company said that residents can place their orders via its official website (vissanmart.com), Facebook page, or hotline (190011960).
The firm employees will also inform buyers about the estimated time of delivery.
Regarding Co.opmart supermarket chain, customers can shop for products at the nearest Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.opFood, or Co.opSmile via phone call, Zalo, or Viber.
Co.opmart currently offers free delivery within six kilometers for bills worth over VND200,000 (US$8.6).
VinMart supermarkets also operate home delivery service, as customers are recommended to contact the nearest venue with the corresponding phone number for the fastest service.
According to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, 110 out of 234 markets in the city remain open.
During the ongoing social distancing period, certain measures are taken to limit the number of visitors to these venues.
Such markets as Binh Thoi in District 11 have encouraged merchants to provide their phone numbers so that customers can contact and purchase products from their homes.
Vietnam has documented 23,126 local COVID-19 infections since the fourth and worst outbreak started on April 27.
