The plant is expected to be put into operation by late 2021
Construction of a new waste-to-energy plant started in Hoa An Commune, Phung Hiep District in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang on Sunday.
The plant covers 23 hectares and is projected to cost VND1.32 trillion (US$56.86 million).
It is designed to be capable of handling 300 metric tons of waste per day, generating 6MW in the first phase and reaching a capacity of 600 metric tons to produce 12MW in the second phase.
The plant will handle all types of waste across Hau Giang, including domestic waste, industrial waste, and agricultural waste.
At Sunday’s ground-breaking ceremony, leaders of the provincial People’s Committee asked departments, agencies, and locales to join hands to ensure the implementation, quality, and safety of the project in order to put the plant into operation on schedule in late 2021.
In addition, the investor is requested to choose cutting-edge and environmentally friendly technologies for the power plant.
