Storm Etau hit the coast from Khanh Hoa to Phu Yen at around 11:00 am on Tuesday
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has decided to close five airports in Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong Provinces during specific hours on Monday and Tuesday due to Storm Etau.
Particularly, Tuy Hoa Airport in the south-central province of Phu Yen has been suspended from 15:00 on Monday to 16:00 on Tuesday.
Phu Cat Airport in the south-central province of Binh Dinh has been temporarily closed from 00:00 am to 3:00 on Tuesday.
Cam Ranh Airport in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa has been temporarily shut down from 00:00 to 16:00 on Tuesday.
Buon Ma Thuot Airport in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has been temporarily closed from 7:00 to 16:00 on Tuesday.
Lien Khuong Airport in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has been temporarily closed from 6:00 to 16:00 pm on Tuesday.
The CAAV said the scheduled opening timelines of the airports might be changed depending on the actual progress of the storm to minimize the operational impact for airlines and passengers.
The CAAV requested that leaders and authorities of the aforementioned airports closely monitor weather developments and immediately report to the authority’s leaders when there is an urgent proposal for operation due to impacts of the storm.
