The Vietnam business of German carmaker Audi AG is recalling a few dozen cars over faulty engine compartment rubber seals that can come loose and deform.
The affected vehicles are Audi A8L 4.0 TFSI models manufactured between January 2014 and December 2016, imported and distributed officially in Vietnam.
After some time of reviewing, the carmaker discovered a fault in the vehicles’ engine compartment rubber that can cause the seal to deform and come loose.
The loose rubber seal may come into contact with hot parts in the engine compartment due to vibrations occurring during vehicle operation and be scorched.
Audi AG thus required all importers to officially check their vehicle listings and recall them for inspection for the complete safety of its customers.
The aforementioned Audi A8L models are still working safely until the time of inspection, the member of the Volkswagen Group stated.
Audi Vietnam confirmed that the number of cars sold in the Vietnamese market subject to the recall is 33 units. All these vehicles will be inspected and repaired.
Currently, Audi Vietnam is directly contacting each of the affected vehicles’ owners to inform them of the time to check and fix the error, which is expected to take about 30 minutes per car and completely free of charge.
The recall started on Sunday and will last until November 15, 2021.
It has been registered with the Vietnam Register, the state agency in charge of vehicle registration, for monitoring.
