Multinational tech firm Intel has expressed interest in joining as a partner in the development of the pending Vietnam National Innovation Center.
The statement was made by a representative from the firm who spoke at a press conference held on Tuesday in Hanoi regarding the Vietnam International Innovation Expo 2021 and the construction of the Vietnam National Innovation Center.
According to the Intel official, the firm hopes to work with Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment to optimize cooperation mechanisms in the project.
Contractors will break ground on the construction of Vietnam National Innovation Center on January 9.
The center is designed to feature a complex dedicated to creating technological advances and the connection of stakeholders within the local innovation ecosystem.
It will accommodate innovative institutes and businesses from all over the world, with space zoned for research facilities, labs, business centers, and workspaces for industry-leading experts and researchers.
Vu Quoc Huy, deputy director of the center, said the VND750 billion (US$32.5 million) capital required for the project will be mobilized from private investments.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment also made an announcement at Tuesday’s press conference on the key features of the Vietnam International Innovation Expo 2021.
It is the first international innovation expo that gathers all shareholders of Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem, according to Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.
The event will feature over 150 booths showcasing the latest tech solutions, products, and innovations from industry-leading firms, namely VinGroup, Viettel, MoMo, CMC, Sunshine, Hanaka, VNPT, Samsung, Intel, Dell, Hitachi, Siemens, Hyosung, as well as startups, small and medium enterprises, universities, and research institutes.
