As Christmas approaches, Christian communities in Ho Chi Minh City are starting to liven up the spirit with dazzling home decorations.

Since early December, Christian neighborhoods in the city have been seen draped in brightly-colored lights, immersing quarters of District 8, District 4, and Go Vap District, among others, with heartwarming Christmas cheers.

Residents of five parishes in the Catholic community on District 8’s Pham The Hien Street are finalizing the items in their outdoor Christmas decorations.

Meanwhile, parishes in Go Vap District are also scrambling to complete their Christmas setups, with over 600 meters of flashing lights installed.

“The road was embellished by local residents within a day. This year, we decided to deploy everyday material, as in components to build shacks and windmills, to represent traditional Vietnamese culture. We have completed 80 percent of the work so far,” said Hoang Trong Thong, a resident of Go Vap District.

Christmas ornament shops on Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street in District 5 are also getting more crowded with customers seeking the perfect embellishment for their Christmas trees set up at home.
