A 78-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off an apartment building in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City earlier this week, according to CCTV footage.

Police in District 10 received a report of a woman falling to her death from atop block A at the Ngo Gia Tu apartment complex in Ward 3 at around 10:30 am on Tuesday.

Police officers quickly arrived at the building to examine the scene where they took the woman’s body for an autopsy, collected eyewitness testimonies, and extracted CCTV footage for an investigation into the case.

Premilinary results of the investigation declaring the incident not an accidental fall were revealed on Wednesday.

At the scene, the deceased woman was identified as D.Q., a 78-year-old who had been living in a flat on the tenth floor of building A.

According to several residents living at the condo building, the victim suffered from several elderly diseases and had been seeking inpatient care.

Extracted footage from the CCTV cameras installed on the tenth floor of building A showed that Q. exited her flat alone with a small chair to the floor’s balcony area which she climbed up before jumping to her death.

Currently, the District 10 police are carrying on with their investigation into the case.
