Postal service allowed to operate during outdoor travel restrictions in Ho Chi Minh City

The municipal administration has permitted postal delivery service to operate after 6:00 pm

The Ho Chi Minh City administration has allowed postal delivery service to operate during outdoor travel restrictions from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily.

The municipal People’s Committee issued the permission on Monday following a proposal from the Department of Information and Communications.

Postal companies are only permitted to transport parcels and documents in accordance with regulations, while the transport of goods is still banned after 6:00 pm.

The administration also allowed postal workers to perform their tasks the conventional way during these hours, which means they can receive parcels from the sender’s address, transport them to the post office, and deliver them to the recipient’s address.

They are also allowed to travel between districts while on the job.

From July 26, the municipal People’s Committee has mandated that citizens stay indoors between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am and only go outside for emergency medical services.

Those participating in pandemic prevention and control efforts, as well as reporters, sanitation workers, and people in charge of troubleshooting problems related to electricity, water, telecom systems and technical infrastructure are exempt from the ban.

Vehicles transporting essential goods, materials for production, and import and export products; vehicles of pandemic response forces; and shuttle buses carrying employees of companies are permitted to travel during the restrictions.

Vietnam had documented 165,339 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday afternoon, with 46,965 recoveries and 1,881 deaths.

The country has recorded 161,482 local infections in 62 out of its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth wave began on April 27.

Ho Chi Minh City is leading the table with 100,557 cases.
