Residents in Ho Chi Minh City who need to leave their homes for supplies or vaccination must prepare their IDs and certain documents proving their reasons to go outside.

The city is implementing extensive social distancing measures which require residents to stay home and only go out for food, medicine, and other emergencies.

The municipal People’s Committee also mandates that citizens stay indoors between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am the next day, except in emergency health situations.

Police officers have established checkpoints and carried out patrols to make sure the regulations are strictly followed.

People who need to leave their homes must present necessary documents proving their appropriate reasons upon request by law enforcers.

For those who go to local markets and supermarkets, an ID and shopping tickets must be brought along.

The tickets, stating a specific time, date, and venue, are provided by authorities of the neighborhoods.

Besides, residents who go out for COVID-19 vaccines must carry with them letters or text messages of their vaccination appointments along with their IDs, and other idetification papers issued by local authorities (if any).

People are allowed to leave home after 6:00 pm if their vaccination appointments fall into these restrictive hours.

Staff members of state agencies must wear their uniforms and bring along their professional ID cards, as well as written confirmations from their corresponding institutions.

Delivery workers are required to wear their work uniforms with corresponding business logos, name tags, and QR codes.

Only delivery staff who transport essential products to isolated areas, quarantine centers, and COVID-19 treatment facilities are allowed to go out after 6:00 pm.

Residents who fail to prove a proper reason for going outside can be slapped with a VND1-3 million (US$43-130) fine.
