Whirlwind damages Ho Chi Minh City campus, causes school closure for 2,000 students

The incident caused no human loss or injury but the campus sustained heavy property damage

Nearly 2,000 students of Binh Phu High School in District 6, Ho Chi Minh City will not go to school on Monday and Tuesday as school staff repair damage caused by a whirlwind which swept through the campus on Saturday afternoon.

The timetable for students on Wednesday has also been adjusted. 

Students in 12th grade will return to school while 11th and 10th graders will alternate between studying at school and online.

The incident caused no human loss or injury but damaged equipment and property at the school.

The debris was cleared as of Sunday afternoon.

Binh Phu High School was built in May 2000, with a capacity of 36 classrooms and other functional rooms.

Nearly 2,000 students are enrolled at Binh Phu this school year, according to the school’s administrators.
