City leaders can easily keep track of necessary information with portable electronic devices, such as their smartphones
Authorities held a ceremony on Sunday afternoon to upgrade the pilot smart-city model in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City in the 2020-21 period.
The smart-city operation center being trialed in District 1 is integrated with eight smart systems, said District 1 chairman Nguyen Van Dung at the event.
The systems include smart security cameras, smart firefighting, smart city management, smart education management, health management, smart tourism, online public service, and cyber information safety management.
After the upgrade, the smart-city operation center in District 1 will be able to connect to all peripheral devices, provide data, handle emergencies and provide centralized management as per established protocols, process information, forecast situations, and take actions in a timely manner.
The center is carrying out trials on six main components including the reporting system, internal interactions, document exchange, public administration, public opinion, and CCTV camera management, said a representative of AIC Group, which develops the systems.
The highlight of this application is that city leaders can easily keep track of necessary information with portable electronic devices, such as their smartphones.
In addition, all information shared among members of the system, including text messages, calls, documents, and images, is completely secured.
“The system has common features like those of a social network except one that’s focused on work,” the representative added.

Artificial intelligence is utilized to minimize the number of personnel needed to manage the CCTV camera system and promptly deal with incidents whenever one comes up.
The intelligent human resource management system also incorporates the body temperature management of people entering and leaving offices, contributing to COVID-19 prevention.
Speaking at the ceremony, municipal People’s Committee chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong spoke highly of the new improvements to the management and operational efficiency of local governments.
District 1, which plays a key role in the city’s development, has been earmarked as a leading unit in building a smart district, Phong stressed.
